PENG was born and raised in Chongqing, China, and currently resides in Paris. Her practice operates within an open structural framework that guides her actions, positioning her artistic and modelling work as an effect of her philosophical orientation in Réel. Working across painting, drawing, and video, as well as installation and performance, PENG’s oeuvre emerges through sustained processes of self-reflexive critique, interrogating the conditions and limits of her own perception. She is interested in the sequence of ordinary things that happen and in the effects of certain specific human behaviours as they are presented in reality, as well as in social power hierarchies and the patterns of body language behaviour that lie beneath them.
